Many SUP surfers often have two or three surfing boards so if your love is downwinding why not have two or three DW boards?..

I finally bit the bullet and bought a new shape 14' Glide to go with my old one and my 17' Jav/Glide.

I took my new board on its first DW run yesterday.. It was only about 15-25 knots and gusty with lots of lulls causing lots of chop and confused water but it still went really well..

I still don't think I will be able to keep up with the Starbie Aces in marginal conditions but it sure is a fun board to paddle.. Here's some vid.

You look like you've grasped the newer version right away - it took me a while to realise that it really likes to be ridden with the nose poked right in. Front foot often has to be hovering on the black strip and although nose does submarine it tends to come up with a slight foot-shift back.

If there are runners, it's as fast as the Ace - only when it becomes outright grind paddling will the Ace pull away from what I've seen.

Nice one DJ.

Totally agree with your sentiments - the long boards all have their day to shine !

The grey area being that what paddlers on many boards regard as an outright grind, the Ace paddler can still find runners.

Early days I know but on first impressions how does it compare to last years glide?
It looks faster but maybe just the conditions on the day?
Cheers Mel
