Hi all, anyone planning on paddling on swollen creeks or rivers this weekwend please dont do the following,
Paddle alone
Go near weirs
Paddle where you are not used to.
In addition watch out for snags that can tangle leg ropes, submerged logs and most importantly watch out for snakes ,I saw one paddling today and put in a very fast 30 strokes to get away from it.
Anybody seen anything interesting floating about this week?

How about just don't go near em full stop - freaken death traps, lost 2 friends to rivers courtesy of logs.

Aussie rivers are heaps more dangerous than those you see in the vids in Europe and the US cause the only time we have decent water a lot of the time is during floods when trees, submerged logs, etc are everywhere.

Unless you are a very experienced whitewater paddler of course.

It is so dangerous because the rivers break the banks and when you loose your board you get washed through trees on the bends that are normally high and dry , Ive done it and got caught very dangerous , just don't do it.

Really good advice, DO NOT underestimate the power of rivers, particulaly in flood.
