I'm heading to Bali next week and packing my board.. I've got a spare leggie a spare paddle warm water wax extra fins.. Think I have it covered just one question.. Do you need to open up the screw on the board to release the pressure in the board?? That is what the screw in the board does?? It's a naish 8'3 x32

Hey Slugga, Yes release the vent plug to be on the safe side. Just take it out completely. By doing so you are eliminating the chance of any pressure build up inside the board whilst flying.
This is a precautionary procedure. Im yet to see a board delaminate from pressure build up in a plane whilst flying. The hot sun claims more boards than cabin pressure and requires more attention and precaution than flying with your board.
Leaving your board on hot black volcanic beach sand whilst you have a few Binnies over lunch, or being stuck in traffic with you board on the roof is more a issue whilst in Bali.
You will be right have Fun!
Luke.

One thought - when you take it out stick some tape over/near the hole so you remember to stick it back in when you get to Bali.
I recently took my 8'8" X32 to the Maldives. Half way home I realized that I did not remove the plug... It was fine. (But I would not rely on it.)

I've never worried about it but on my last trip one of the values on my pelican cases for my camera gear didn't work . The case was sucked down so hard it took 3 screw drivers to prise it open so now I might start undoing the vents on my boards after this.

I'd take one more leggie, too.
