Hoping for some help.

If you want to put 2-3 layers of cloth on a board do you have to do each layer separately or can you just lay all 2-3 cloth layers down at once and glass them all together.

Also I will be painting the board so do I need a gloss coat and not worry about the hot coat. I am assuming you use an oil based car paint or similar for painting.

Any info on the glassing stage would be fantastic.

Cheers

you can . but i would do two and let it set , lap sand and then put on the last layer nice and tight ,is it pu or eps .its eps you will have to use water base pint on the foam ,you can lay it up with 2 layers do a thin fill coat sand hard , paint then do the last layer of glass ,hot or gloss coat ,you could lay it all up, hot coat ,paint then 2 pac clear the board as your gloss coat ,

There were some old video's floating around called Shaping 101, and Glassing 101. Two separate videos. Yes, orientated to short boards, and PU, not EPS.

But they might be worth sitting through for some general pointers.... ??? Ask around your local crew if they have copy !

three layers of 6 oz is no probs if you are familiar with your mix.

after the first hundred you get the knack.

practice with small areas.

or do one layer at a time and squeegee the excess resin as much as you can.

Yep you can. I've only done a couple but 2 layers plus a deck patch was no problem, even for me.
But make sure you wet the cloth out properly (all layers) and then squeegy as mcuh as you can off.
Then sand, then filler/hot/finish coat.
