Hi Guy's

Some gret shots there! The conditions look challenging!

I had a big paddle sesh this morning myself,I went from my house along GoldenBeach and out to the Bar, about a 1/2hr treck to try and get a few waves.(really nice cruise)

No Luck catching any waves once out on the bar this morning though,it was blowing cross off and it was just to hard to get any board speed up,also it was pretty lumpy wich was not doing me any favours. It was so much easyer to line one up and get a good ride when there was no wind.

In those shots you just posted it looks like its prety windy too. How do you guy's go when its windy and lumpy?

Im shore once I get a bigger board it will be easyer,

Very impressed with the waves you guy's got in those condition's, (well done ya lucky buggers!)

Any tips on how to combat the rougher windyer days would be great,

Cheers
Luke

Luke,

Thanks for the props mate! It was a sick session.

Yes it was pretty windy yesterday, probably around the 10 - 15 knot mark, and nearly straight offshore. It is really hard to paddle against the wind, committed powerful stokes are needed, and it aint easy, you will tire quickly and catching waves is very hard. You can sometimes duck your to loose some windage, and stepping forward can work well in fuller conditions. You definately want to be pretty comfortable on your board and know it's limits before trying to paddle in strong winds, because you will get pushed around a lot. But like most things, practice makes perfect. I have paddled in about 20 knots and it gets close to impossible (to have fun!).

I recommend keeping to the light or no wind days unless your doing down wind treks.

You will definately find it easier on a bigger board, well a faster board anyway.

Good luck,

Regards,

JB
