Just got back from over 3 hrs in the surf on the 9 6" today. First surf this morning was classic glassy head high and bigger sets, and for once the beach had a good bank. A consistant right hander was breaking pretty much in the same spot every time I also got my new methane paddle today (didnt use it yet ) I got so close to getting barrelled today on the 9 6" when it was glassy, wont be long Untill i get shacked for sure I tell you what though I am absolutely beat from the 9 6" It really works you paddeling this thing around, hacked out some nice big roundhouse cutties and got heaps of speed ! Its still a bit of a love hate with 9 6" Its hard work getting around on It, but the surfing and wave catching sure makes up for all the hard work

I took the day off today also and headed down to Flinders, nice and glassy with some really nice chest high sets. Tried to talk DJ into doing the same but he couldn't.

If I did that it would be very shortlived as, he and I both know, he gets far more better days out on the water than me. But today was memorable for me as it was the biggest and cleanest surf that I've had without completely floundering in it. I was also out there by myself which was a bonus. Caught some really nice waves. You got to love a midweeker!

Yes it was reasonable down here as well today, as dogman said a bit lumpy but it was a bit bigger with 4foot sets. Don't think there will be much tommorrow as the NE cracked in this arvo and my spot likes the southerlies.

Volume sure helps with paddling around and so far does not make surfing any worse. I like 140 liters and 29.5' wide.

Hey Dog, you got the 9 6" naish awesome ! they really do surf like a surfboard, you will love it Oliver good to see your getting out amongst the surf, theres nothing better. Hey Rod dont know about the litres I guess thats about a case of coopers pale ale, I reckon next time I got some spare coin I could get you to make me a 9 4" or something to suit a big bloke that will still surf loose

9'0" would be better Brooko, surfs looser and has a max of 150 liters. By my volume formulae for experienced paddlers, which is 1.5 times their body weight in kilos then call that liters. The 9'0" can carry upto with easy paddling 100 to 105 kg.

Just got a call from robdog the beach is cranking again so im all over it Hey Rod when the funds pick up a bit, maybe early next year I think i will get you to do me a board, I just got the 9 6" and love surfing it but between it and the new paddle $2000 and not much work I have to watch my budget as long as I have some petrol in my car to get me to the surf

Yes we had glassy 2 to 4 foot surf today before the NE kicked in. I never get there before about 8.15 am as I have to drop off the kids at the bus stop weekdays.

But guess what, I turned up for the glass off, caught heaps of waves till 10am then went to work and shaped a 9'0 SUP and glassed the bottom of another.

I'm tuckered out, 3 days of surf.
