Have a new gopro to use on the sup,but would like to fit the floaty back to it ,in case it gets free of its board mount. Not that keen on sticking the float to the back of it permanently in case the camera gets used for other than water based sport.I could get another back for the camera ,but was thinking velcro on the back and float might work ,anybody have any experience or thoughts on this? Should I just bite the bullet and get another back for it...Thanks

Yeah get a second back. There will be times you don't want it there.

Yes I am definitely going the new back route now,I did not realise they were quite cheap, unlike the camera itself.I am guessing that genuine spare parts are expensive.

When I ordered the floaty back door, it came with another back door. That was only about a year ago, I'd be surprised if it has changed since then

Just make sure when you fit the new back door that it seals properly ? i was in Fiji last year and the seal on the new door failed instantly and blew up the GoPro... got it replaced under warranty but it meant no water pics from the trip.
