Just getting into SUP over the last month. I took off on a wave, went into surfers stance , right foot back applying weight , rotated my upper torso to the left to jam the paddle into the wave. Next thing was a whack in the middle of my right hammy. Sports Physio , who is excellent says it is a significant injury . Grade 2. Out of action for one month.
Anyone else done a hammy surfing?

i did a grade 1 ml to my back knee(i,m natural stance) falling off heel side when i was starting. my back foot was stuck to the deck pad and i just about watched my knee buckle.what made it worse was having the paddle on the side i was falling, i couldn,t let go of it, i kinda bent myself in half, hence the knee injury. falling off toe side doesn,t seem to be a problem. since then i ,ve heard other people doing knees. first time i,ve heard of a hammie. i,m wondering if you were falling off heel side?these days if i don,t think i can stay on when i,m wobbling heel side i just jump off. for me its never been a problem on shortboards because they just tip with you, where as a paddle board more often than not will just sit there flat while you fall off
