With a mate of mine buying the new Hobie 14 last week and having a paddle on it over the weekend I just came across this Hobie vid that talks about where SUP is heading righ now... Racing.. flat water and cruising..

I'll post some pics of the new board soon.. Jeez it was really nice to paddle and beautiful to look at.

Kristi paddled the Hobie 12'6 x 27 recently, she said the board was very stable for it width and when the nose goes under the dihedral ensures it pops up fast and true with little side shimmer.

Definitely a board to try out for the lighter crew.

my board is the same 12'6 x 27 known as the Hobie elite race and it goes really well even with my heavier hubby on it. And yes the nose pops through a wave beautifully. (have not heard the word DIHEDRAL before, but will look it up now so i know for my next chat)

I have the 14' Hobie Race Elite that David is referring to, Very nice race board, middle of the road in weight and speed. Super stable , great glide and surfs well off the tale, due to the hard edged rails down back on the tail. Perfectly suited and designed for Bop style racing. The board is ok in down wind, but nothing like a dedicated planning type hull with good nose lift. All in all a very versatile production board that is competitive in the flats, choppy and surf zone conditions. I also must say that the quality, construction and strength of these boards are very good, with no issues after 20 hrs of paddling time to date, even after running into an anchored boat!!!!
