I have an 11,4 naish, and had 2 sessions im going forward and catching waves ok, but turning to get the waves im pretty wonky lol.

Will let you know when I get it sussed, I'm still running at about a 50% success rate after a lot more than 2 sessions.

Hey Kym,
The key to doing a kick turn imo is to get some paddle speed in a straight line first before you start, then get your foot back over the side fin on the side you want to turn to and again paddle hard into the turn. Dont stop paddling through the whole turn until you feel the wave lifting the board and foward momentum.
The other easy way to get onto a wave is to paddle at right angles to the direction of the wave with the paddle on the wave side of the board. The board will naturally yaw towards the shore and line you up for the take off. You just need to get the timing right.
Me thinks that it will take a lot of practice to get this right especially in challenging conditions.
See you in the soup
