I have never seen a more pathetic excuse for justification of a potentially leathal act. I agree with double Bubba no lube.

The magazine that tried to glorify it should also be sanctioned IMO.

Phill

I think a bit of wax and sand on his windscreen would have been enough. Just a mistaken drop in and a snap reaction. Everyone is ok - that's the main thing. Lessons have been learned.

Good three second video all the same.

that right up there with johns kiddie and phil gould interview, a staged interview

That got a laugh, Sterling's response to one of the questions:
"The next time a guy drops in on you what will happen?

I'll take him out to lunch."

Watch the video again frame by frame, watch the pro's legs, it's obvious that Sterling launched his board at the poor guy who (you can see in the video) didn't see Sterling on his inside.
Undoubtedly, Sterling regrets it (death threats!!! those Yankees are crazy man ).

And before the guys who supported his actions get on their bandwagons & say "the amateur's a kook 'cos he didn't look to the inside b4 taking off", yeah yeah, we know, we've all done it...........

What a weak excuse for an apology. So trite and meaningless, you wonder whether the guy was actually interviewed or some PR person from his management company wrote the questions and answers.

He should be so lucky to continue surfing - wrapping burgers at Maccas might teach him a bit of humility.

So am I expected to continue to support the companies that sponsor him? Not likely. Marketing works two ways and his little effort now means that I will actively avoid them.

Here is his manager's email address to let him know what you think of this little stunt.

Wow!
Maybe it's just me, but it was only a wave!
What's he going to do to someone who cuts him up in a car.

He does not seem overly contrite in the interview, but as I have the reactions of a possum it may all be a big accident.

I think that I am more disappointed with the baying for blood from both sides, some people need to get some perspective!

Hey RTC,

Check out some of the other US surfing forums. This clown was bragging about his actions until someone posted the video. Now he's begging to have it removed.

As for perspective I note in your avatar you have a young fella on the front of your SUP. Imagine if someone deliberately done that to him?

What about all the groms out there. What does it say to them? As a pro surfer he should be a good role model.

I could go on and on but this clown deserves everything he gets and more. I don't have one ounce of pity or respect for him. Enough said

Hi Pete,
I would respond like any father, if he did that to either of my lads it would be his last act on this earth.
It's a sport FFS.
Anyone would think it was rugby

i found this-lacey

Here is what someone found and posted somewhere else

TransWorld SURF: Without even asking, we’re assuming this happened at Lowers. Are we right?

Sterling Spencer: Yep, about ten days ago.

Did you not see the guy?

No, I saw him. I was trying to get famous and air over the guy like Christian Fletcher did a long time ago but at the last second he stood up and I crashed into him.

Then what happened?

We went underwater and I was thinking, “Great, I’m gonna get into a big fight” but when he popped up the dude could barely speak English. We got separated by the waves right away so I didn’t catch up to him for a while but when I did I was like “Sorry man!” He actually said sorry for getting in the way, too. I felt bad because he broke a fin out, but next time I’m gonna land that—the Human Boardslide.

Despite nearly decapitating this fellow, Sterling is a rad human, check out his humor-filled blog at sterlingspencer.com

this is somebodies quote /reply to the interview-lacey

whatever happened he actually meant to "air over the guy"..........IMO stupid, the justification of trying to get famous is even worst

this is probably one a few watered down stories, the guy should just ownup-lacey
