Heey everyone

Well I have a notebook and on the front it has a quote by Taj Burrow:

"I surf because I love the feeling of being surfed out"

And I was interested why everybody surfed, so if you want to leave a reply with I surf beacuse... at the start.

I surf because... the waves are sometimes the only thing that keep me sane, they take off the everyday pressures of life and becuse I live for the perfect days at my tiny little home break.

on that note doggy. at my local, one of the crew was giving some visiting boogers some grief. until he later found out they were all navy seals...not sure how it went down after. but suffice to say "never judge a book by it's cover"

unless you riding one of those motorise surfboards...that is pretty nuff nuff

... it's surreal. People have no reasonable right to be standing comfortably, looking at the view, enjoying themselves, under the lip of a pealing wave.

I SURF BECAUSE,

My Dad helped me onto my first wave at age 5 on his mal that he shaped, that was the biggest rush !

My old man pushed me onto my first wave at 5 on a Strapper single fin as well. Funny thing is that even before that I remember thinking of myself as a surfer.

I don't know why I surf but I never want to stop.

I surf... or used to.
for the pureness of it.
for the solitude.
for the adventure.
for the test of courage.
sadly now I believe the waves have hit critical mass.
it no longer holds that magic, its crowded and
now so mainstream, i wouldn't be surprised to see my mum
paddle out. and i see it getting worst before it gets better.
now with jetski tow ins. even the larger swells will get crowded.
if i wanted a pastime/sport with crowds i woulda played football.
DOOM and GLOOM but you did ask.......

I used to ride those foamies. Still got a couple in the old man's shed IIRC. I used to surf so heavy on the back foot that all the foam would start to disintegrate. I used to go through two a summer. On a couple I tried to put a glass patch down to protect it. Then the foam around the patch would disintegrate and create a razor blade edge. Bad idea.

Anyway, don't you all realise that none of you surf?

Haha I probably should have been more specific and said I SUP because... but even though many will disagree with me I think of it as the same thing - SUP, surf its all the same to me, I'm still spending quality time out in the ocean

It's just that when I go out in the waves I say "I'm going for a surf" not "I'm going for a SUP"

hey, after training, about 6 or so of us were surfing 12,6 and 14 ' boards at 5.30 this morning in some reasonable waves. no paddle is going to turn a board at that size. you have to use pure surfing prowess to turn and surf them. it's not all about a 6 ' something shortboard.

don't make my mistake,i blew it for years just thinking a shortboards was the be all and end all, know i just laugh to myself at the fence leaners looking at s### surf
. anything will do as long as it's in the ocean

sincerely

I surf because because long point breaks are so much fun !

(but also as Rich kind of said, because Dad first helped me onto waves on a foamie, and on surfmats).
