I've been looking for a nearly a year for the perfect SUP board for myself. The first board I looked at was a Bonga Perkins when I went to a Surf Sail Australia store. That wasn't bad because it's apparently been used to win SUP comps in Hawaii already (meaning a quality board, I guess) - but I don't like the platform (I may like to use it as a longboard sometimes). Then I found a whole range on the internet; from C4 to Lagoona Bay, Starboard to Surftech. The list goes on and on...just making me more confused. I'm wondering if I can get some help from some experienced people on this forum. I'm looking for a board that is good on waves (my main water based activity), but at the same time I can go for a reasonable paddle without get too tired from the board sinking too much, etc. I'm looking more in the direction of Starboard, at "The Extremist" model (longer fish), but I'm open to any suggestions!

Where are you?..Someone here might let you have a go of theirs..or check with your local shop to see if they have any demo boards..That's the best way to tell.

I love my Naish 10'6" and I am looking at buying a Naish 11'6" as well..for my daughter to use and friends to use..because my 10'6" is quite tippy at only 28" wide..btw..so is the Bonga at only 27" wide..

The Starboard Extremist would be a good choice...How heavy are you..Your weight has a lot to do with which board is right for you.

If you're ever in Melbourne you would be welcome to try mine..or pop down to SHQ and try some of theirs..they have Naish, Mistral and a Southpoint Kalama..all good boards..imo.

I'm in Perth, so not much chance of someone lending me there's ...and I'm about 76kg. I don't really mind something a bit wobbly, as long as it performs to a good standard - the balance factor is just more of a challenge! I think I will have to find somewhere to demo a board - there must be some shops suppling the boards around here because every time I go riding along the coast, I see at least one SUP'er paddling around the reef breaks near Cottesloe beach.

hi sparkey just been updating to Windshack range for SUPs and if you want to have try of a couple you would be welcome to take a few different boards down (one at a time) , if your interested you would be able to take a pure SUP like a laird hamilton and if you find that to small/tippy you could bring it back to the shop and pick something like a mistral pacifico what has a alot more volume. check out the rang at windshack.com under longboards (still need to get SUP on the menu) he has a demo for all models there

im pretty sure there is a 11'1 or 11'6 laird hamilton, a mistral pacifico and a 11'6 naish that alberto is demo(ing) but dont hold me to that.

check out the range at windshack there are some really great boards, iv used all of them and love them all.

Cool, thanks. I'm actually going to go and demo a 9'8" Starboard from Windforce first; but if they're not for me, I'll come and check out the Windshack stuff.
