Can anyone recommend a reasonably unobtrusive inflatable PFD for downwinders, preferably with a decent size drink bladder?

LOL. Funny you should mention that as I was just talking with Tanzer from ewa-marine about the 14' ULI this afternoon. Well actually we were talking about an underwater housing for a camcorder, but the 14'er came up in conversation.

Yes the 14" comes with drinks bladder and ipod docking station - waterproofed of course.

Anaconda have got those inflatable PFD's on special this week for about $70 and they are normally twice that.. I've never seen one with a bladder.

I have used the Trek Ultra and it is very comfortable and does not interfere with your paddling stroke takes a 2 litre bladder in the back. its used for safety on long paddles to outer reef bombies and coastal down winders.

I liked it because it is full adjustable height wise and has straps to ensure that the zips dont break.

I have learned that bladders can effect your balance on down winders especially if they are large in volume.

If the bladder sits up high the additional 2 - 3kgs can alter your center of gravity significantly especially if your a lighter person and there is significant cross chop!
