Great vid, loving those reos - especially on the forehand. How's the air that he lands on one of em.
I've thought this for a while but I reckon SUPs are going to overtake longboards in the performance stakes - if they haven't already. I reckon a lot of these young guys are regularly popping airs now.
I seem to recall, through a scotch soaked haze, having a similar convo in the Dogmans renta kennel after the finals at Port Mac. As I recall the theory went that once the kids wise up to the fact that a paddle is a lever and with the aid of said lever increased force can be imparted through turns, things are gonna get somewhat ballistic. Basic biomechanics really. Just starting to see it with the likes of Keahi and Noah and now this kid and a few others. But this is just the beginning, "the lemon next to the pie". In the near future the kids are gonna be riding boards that are to all intents and purposes, slightly beefed up shorties, not restricted by the constraints of width and thickness like we arthritic old farts. Call me delusional, but at that point, when the whole deal gets serious street cred with the cool school, Stand Up is going to go places that share more common ground with arial style new school shortboarding, kiteboarding and windsurfing. And they reckon theres to many SUPs now! Hah!!!!
Cheers
