I must say, the "conflicting agendas" bit caught my attention. It's just a little bit rich of SUPA to speak of "conflicting agendas" when it was actually SUPA who openly and aggressively attempted to usurp the existing and well supported state titles events in what can only be described as a hostile takeover attempt. I can't speak for any other state, but in Victoria, the only "conflicting agenda" has been created by SUPA. The clubs, retailers, industry and the Surfing Victoria administration are all 100% committed to co-operation and growth.
I dont think you can call SUPA a "Peak Body" A 'peak body' is a non-government organisation whose membership consists of smaller organisations of allied interests. The peak body thus offers a strong voice for the specific community sector in the areas of lobbying government, community education and information sharing between member groups and interested parties. when you can't get an event over the line in either Queensland or Victoria due to lack of support!Rule no.1 "Dont take a knife to a gun fight" Confronting SA/SV in Victoria was a tough call considering they have openly supported SUP for at least 2 years and actively worked with industry and clubs extensively to grow the sport.
SV have an extensive existing sponsorship base, infrastructure and relationships built since the 60's and 50 years experience managing the Rip Curl Pro at Bells which is considered an Iconic Event and fully backed by both industry and local and federal government.

Woody it appears SUPA's actions in Victoria just significantly increased Surfing Australia's / Surfing Victoria's ongoing commitment to SUP on a National basis.
The only winer was SUP as a sport.
