I paddled with Jonathan today and he turned up with his new ski.

It's not my cup-a-tea because it looked way too tippy for me.. but still a nice looking thing.

Here's a few pictures of his new Epic down at St Kilda today... Quack!

How are you finding the ski Jonathan?
I'm loving mine, still find it a bit of a handful in the ocean but much easier paddling up wind!
I also don't seem to be having as many shoulder problems paddling the ski as I do after paddling the stand up.

Alsup and I came across a pod of dolphins paddling back from Sandy this morning must have at least 30 of them , a number of the beauties came cruising and doing tricks, what a glorious sight, together with perfect conditions made for a special start to the day

The ski is awesome! It's really revved me up for flat water and the whole challenge of learning a new skill, also great because my son is really keen on it too. Last three paddle I haven't fallen in some something is working.

Looking forward to getting skilled enough to start doing downwinders, although mixing it up with SUP's is going to a bit tricky doing downwinders because it's so fast - guess they will have plenty of time to catch up every time I fall out

I overtrained for the 11 Cities Tour and kinda screwed up my left shoulder/ scapula and the ski doesn't seem to hurt that at all so I'm hoping it's a sort of therapy. My lower back is fine so far but it's pretty intense, can imagine if you slouched down it wouldn't take long to get sore. Mixing it up with yoga, cycling, SUP surfing, Indian Clubs and my normal exercises so hopefully there's a few years left in the old bod......53 yesterday....bugger

Happy Birthday Jonathan.
Glad you are really enjoying the ski. Of the 3 forms of paddling that I do (oc, sup and ski), sup seems to be the only one that gives me shoulder problems.
I've been mostly paddling the ski in flat water and have just started venturing out into the ocean. That was a very humbling experience at first but slowly starting to feel more comfortable.
It will be interesting to hear which you find more fun doing dw runs on, ski or sup?

Hey quick suggestion to help out with shoulder soreness which I have a bit of at the moment is to get a hold of a book "pain free" by peter egoscue or do a search on youtube. The three stretches, if you can call them that, I have been doing are static back, supine groin and air bench, takes about 30 mins to get through them and they are very low intensity all about muscle balancing. These have helped me heaps with the shoulder and specifically lower back/sciatica pain.

His books a bit hard to read but sets out specific exercises for different areas of the body, in the case of my problems its all to do with the hips.

Good technique would also probably help but when these a bit of swell around that all goes out the window.... paddle paddle paddle
