Well today was one of mixed emotions. I organised with a mate to meet down at a local spot for a quiet paddle, mainly for fitness in preparation for a trip up north in 10 days.

So it started out just me catching some small knee to thigh high waves and like I say it was mainly for fitness, these waves really need some hard paddling to catch, but once your on they can sometimes roll for 150m.

How's the serenity I thought to myself. But it all went down hill from there, after 20 mins a lone jet skier comes flying over from where he launched he's smelly, noisy wake creating machine. To he's credit he kept his distance and actually come over and asked if I minded him in the area. I responded not really, after all it wasn't epic conditions. So we shared the area and enjoyed our chosen sports for another 20 mins before my friend showed up, followed by a Dad on a Malibu and his boogie boarding sons.

That comrades is where the session took a drastic change. Within 30 seconds we had 7 guy's on jet ski's come flying in to the area at what I'm guessing was around 80-100k's launching of the waves landing within 5 m of us and the people surfing. It takes a bit to unsettle me on the water, but these guy's really got to me. They all wore motox helmets and stared at us after they would land their jumps. At one point the father of the boys waved them away, they gathered then just came through the pack at full pace.

So due to the fact I couldn't even stand on my board anymore with all the chop they created I came in, my mate followed, close behind was he father and his boys.

I'm going to say I actually feel sorry for the first guy I might on his jet ski, he was being a good ambassador to the their sport. He didn't hang around after they turned up, I guess he was as disappointed as I was.

Anyhow (Deep breath) that feels better. Dummy spit over and I've just looked at the forecast for the next week and conditions are looking sweet, kids will be back to school so I can go back to the head high breaks and prepare for the NW trip. Can't wait SUP or surf all morning, kite all arvo top it off with a couple beers around the camp site.(Feels like I'm dreaming)
