Isn't the jet ski supposed to stop if you fall of?

Oh that's right only if you follow the proper procedure and attach the safety leash...

One in a million the guy got hit - sure
One in a million the jet ski took off due to a 'malfunction' - unlikely

It made the local news again tonight!
HMM,new jet ski? truck loads of quikie
gear? who knows?

The SUP rider had an operation for his badly
broken leg today I think it will some time
before I see him in the water! I'll make an
effort to have a chat with him next time!

It's one thing not to have the kill strap on your wrist but for the throttle to stay on is a fault , the same thing happened a few years back at Seaworld where the ski ended up in the crowd.

Yeah I think he probably fell off because of the throttle being stuck open, but had he been using the SAFETY leash it would have stopped the ski/engine.

Hope the SUPer gets well quick. His leg looks a bit twisted in that shot!

Have seen this happen before.
A runaway ski at Seaworld crashed into the audience and hurt some spectators.
The excuse the rider gave for not wearing the safety kill switch leash was "we're professionals, we know what we're doing"
Well IMHO a "professional" should act like a professional and follow saftey precautions to set a good example to the amateurs.
There's no just excuse for this and I hope the poor bugger gets properly compensated for his injuries, pain and suffering, medical expenses, etc....

What a freak accident-in the series of pictures posted here:

www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/nocookies?a=A.flavipes

he looked to be in good spirits after the accident.

I wonder if he'll get a wildcard to next year's quikie pro as part of his compo package?

Here's to hoping he heals quickly with no long term negative consequences.

In some of those pix you can see the safety leash wrapped around the right handle bar.
Probably not the safest spot for it.

The couple of us on the kite forum that made some funny comments about the photo didnt know he was badly hurt, thought it was just a well timed photo of someone getting smashed.
It wouldnt have made any differance it it was a kiter, poledancer, surfer, booger what ever. Was not a aimed to offend SUPs,and if we upset anyone, was not ment to.
Who hasnt laughed at people getting smashed on funniest home videos without thinking of the damage that might have been done????

Dont take offence,

Hope he has a speedy recovery

Just have a look at that main photo above. If you look at his body and follow his torso and the way his leg should be pointing it's definately messed up! Sorta sickening!!
