Soo im heading up to Jurien Bay for the long weekend coming up..

And im wondering if anyone has surfed around that area.. I know jurien is pretty flat except for the outer reefs but maybe green head etc...

Or even better does anyone live up that way or holidaying at the same time that wants to meet up and have a SUP or downwinder or anything involving a paddle and a paddle board..

I think the people who spend the time to go the extra distance are always reluctant to share on an open forum.

Seek you will find. Enjoy ;-)

I dropped in at Jurien on the way to the big smoke a few weeks back, great looking coast and the conditions were great that day but I was without board.

Nah.... I think I'll just switch off.... Marvin.

But seriously, I am excited about my new (2nd hand) *board Drive. Looking forward to getting up the coast and trying it out on some swells that are bigger than the Cottesloe ripples.

Good luck with your road trip.

Is the Jurien Bay area as good as Margaret River region for a week long holiday in early February? On the map it looks like the same distance from Perth as MR. Are the Perth hire cars covered up there, I remember there were limits on where you could travel? Do you need a 4wd/boat to hit the surf spots? Can you hire boards up there?

Margaret River region is your best option for that time of the year or any time of the year for that matter. Jurien and Margaret river are like chalk and cheese.

I was in Jurien a few weeks back. There is a surf shop there but not sure if they hire SUP boards? Its worth heading up that way instead of going to Margs as the crowds are less. Surf breaks are harder to access up there and a boat and or 4wd is needed. But also if its for a surf trip I wouldnt come in Feb as good swells are few and far between. Plus by 10am on most days it will be blowing 20-30 knots+.

I think you are right. For my circumstances, the east coast of Tassie and Margaret river are the best places I've found for a relaxing, stress free 1 week easy holiday in summer. Crowds are not too much of a problem, you get good fresh local food, good wine and spectacular coastline everywhere you go and don't need to queue for it or pay through the nose for it.

MR reminds me of all the places up and down the East Coast I used to go with my family in the Summer during the 70's which are now sadly f$#cked. I have a feeling it may stay that way too, although we may have to pay more for it.
