The wait for the wind early this morning was worth it..

The dolphins stayed with me for about 20 minutes following me on my down-winder..

A most excellent vid....was only going to watch a quarter due to a data shortage.....but the initial branding was kind of cute & then the music was nice.....add the dolphins and was all good

Nice vid. I liked the way the music matched the grey moody looking sky. Well chosen and edited DJ. I don't normally watch downwinding clips but I enjoyed that thanks. It looked really fun too.

Best video so far DJ. Where did you see the dolphins? Looks like it was around Elwood or Brighton?
Pays to take you camera out each time. I planned to yesterday but didn't, then had the big seal off Sandringham playing just in front of me for 10 minutes or so. Didn't get to close as I heard he's a tad grumpy at times.

Thanks Mark.. I first saw them off Elwood and decided not to paddle over to them but before I knew it they swam straight over to me.. and then swam along with me as I held my corse to Sandy.. They stayed with me almost all the way to Green Point.. I've never had them around me for so long at once and most of the time they were just under the water under my board or just in front like you see them under the front of a boat surfing the bow wave.. There was about 6-8 of them and they seemed to like being real close.. Even when I stopped and put my hand in the water they swam around under me almost brushing my hand.. I wonder if they bite? ..

Last Thursday there was a bunch of dolphins and a seal near the beach at Hampton (opposite the old hospital site). They were less than 20m from the beach and not cruising as dolphins usually do. They were thrashing around and leaping out of the water, chasing ... fish, I guess .

Hey DJ, you should try mounting the camera on the front and leaning out to one side (maybe have two camera or a counter weight). Then we could see the waves you're on ... and not have to look at your bum all the time.

I agree.. I hate that square on from the rear view.. Here is some pics of my latest mount since one of the feet broke before I have now chopped off all the feet resulting in much less wobble.. My next plan is to put an elbow on top and run about 18" of pipe out to the side to get that three quarter view from the rear allowing you to see the nose of the board without looking through my legs..
