BTW, you do not need someone to launch and land you when kiting.

At>100kg, id be leaning towards kiting.


Agree I am 105kg and kites make small crap waves fun much like a sup is to surfing

My kiting mate was 100kg and he did fine (after 7 years he finally cracked and loost 20kg). We both had Cabrinha Switchblade 12 metre kites and we were the kings of light wind. The thing that makes the most difference for light wind is the board. For a twintip you want fairly wide and not much rocker. I have a 135x48cm board that is excellent in light winds and has amazing upwind performance. You can make a lightwind board out of a piece of plywood. Just bolt on some foot straps and away you go.

You can also use a conventional surfboard for light wind but it takes a fair bit of skill to keep it together.
