This time paddling about 180 kilometers (110 miles).. It should be like a walk in the park for him..

PRESS RELEASE

What:
Finishing the first leg of a Herculean feat, Laird Hamilton and his three teammates from Team Surfing USA will paddle into Oceanside on Friday, June 19, completing the first leg of a 3 part effort. Team Surfing USA will leave Malibu on June 18 and stand-up paddle more than 110 miles to Oceanside with each team member taking rotating shifts. On Saturday, June 20 the team leaves Oceanside for Annapolis, MD in an effort to beat the cross-country bicycling record in the Race Across America. The day after Team Surfing USA arrives in Annapolis, they will begin a stand-up paddle journey to New York City, adding another 300 miles to their journey.

When & Where:
Team Surfing USA, l ed by Laird Hamilton will arrive at Oceanside Pier at approximately 8:30 am on Friday, June 19, 2009. Arrival will be on south side of Harbor, off Harbor Drive South, Oceanside

Why:
Team Surfing USA and Laird Hamilton are raising awareness and fund for numerous charities including the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Pipeline to a Cure campaign that is funding research for saline-based treatments for those with CF. Team Surfing USA leaves June 20 to bike across the country in a bid to beat the record for the Race Across America.
