What is the best way to decide on the right leggie. Is it size of the board you are paddling or is the size of the waves the key factor?
Cheers.

You should try one of the new Balin leggies that are made specifically for SUP and you'll never get caught up or trip on your leggie again.. I'm loving mine.

Here's a link if you missed it.. www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=53336&SearchTerms=new,Balin,leggie

I notice one thing about all my leggies, after a couple of months all the cord gets frayed and worn and looks like it will break off at the plug on my board, it seems the quality of string is not as good as it used to be.

I am going to get myself one like DJ has as I am sick of my one getting all tangled up - especially around the fins whilst I am getting smashed in the impact zone. I have an 11'6" board with a 10 ft leggie and it causes me grief just when I do not need it!!!

when buying a leggie for sup my advice is to get one longer than your board for your own safety

and get more than one leggie as when you break it in the session of your life it is good to be able to paddle in and just grab the spare and get back out there

instead of watching from the beach and missing out

Yeah I agree Brooko.

DJ, those leggies are good but I have used now in the surf a few times and they do get a bit tangled on themselves making them shorter. This means they sit more on the board and I found I was stepping on it a bit. It is yet to get caught up in my paddle though which is a real positive. Strength so far has been good although I have only been hit by a couple 4'ers. Yet to be tested in anything bigger.

would be good to test them in some size and get a good stretch on it to see what the memory is like with the coil after the fact

Dogman I've given mine a good stretch a few times now and they've come back like new each time.. .. I'll let you test on out at the Mambo.

The Balin guys have tested different coil sizes and found this smaller coil size has much better memory than the larger coil sizes like what DaKine use.

I had a great session the other day at Pt Leo and didn't stand on or get caught up on mine once.. I used to always be kicking it away from under or around my feet.

I've got 2 Creatures outer reef leggies and so far so good. With my new board coming and being lighter and probably more likely to be used in crowded summer surf I was thinking of going a bit shorter and thinner. That way I am less likely to take out some poor bugger paddling behing me. I reckon you'd have to be 10 meters away at the moment not to get sconed
