The Melbourne cold doesn't deter the SUP Vic die-hards. Who said whales can't surf?

Thanks Mr Magilla, a different slant on a spot seen before.

You dudes must have steel gonads, dawn and winter, not for people who don't like the cold that's for sure.

Maybe not gonads of steel but maybe supported in vodka or rum given alcohol doesn't freeze easily!

So why dosn't he fall off? The soundtrack should be enough to keep him warm.

Dig the party waves, but do wonder why one paddler has a bright yellow helmet?

Looks cold, and great fun. I can see the stoke. always good to get out, thanks for sharing.

Can I suggest bending the knees will give you much more more stability.

Yes I do have knees Bardunyah, but they don't work very well. I appreciate the tip though! Only second time in the surf. Much to learn!

The bright yellow helmet is to keep some similarly sized ears warm! ;-)

Stay tuned for DJ's video of the same day. There may just be something a little special in it!

Great outing for your 2nd time in surf!

Your knees might not bend.... but there's more than one way to skin a cat.... May I suggest:
keep your paddle in the water when just standing around.... it really helps with the wobbles.... and it's easy to skim the blade along the water as you ride to help with balance.

Keep up the good work!

Most days that Gath is for warmth and to cover a dodgy ear...but it paid for itself this morning.

(breaks along our little bit of coast are all rocky bottoms...things get a bit marginal in close on the ebb)

It was commented upon by the Chief Grumpy DC (different DC, of course) that we had a yellow M&M (HC) and a yellow Wiggle (DJ) out there last Sunday.

That's ok, we don't mind.

Nothing precious or pretentious in this group. We go looking for the party waves!

We do wave to the prone surfers as we paddle past them to this break. Some respond, some don't. All of them are hoping that we just keep paddling past them I think.

Was good to see the sun come out, though. Was definitely cold arriving at the beach in the semi dark at 7am. Feet were cold & numb by 9.

Grumpy doesn't call me M&M to my face (to my face, he calls me 'Lego Man' ). Wish he'd make up his fkn mind .
