...it was nice on ppb this morning. Me and a mate set out from HMB into the fog and the stillness, cruised by a big fat seal (sea lion?) feeding off Hampton beach, up to the Cenotaph, then back to HMB with the mist lifting for a couple of Danny's hot Mochas in the morning sun.
You wouldn't be dead for quids .

Isn't that seal a beauty! I've paddled up to him sometimes and I swear he's asleep, just his nose and four flippers out of the water, always seems to be hanging around off Hampton, very cool when he comes up with a big fish. He wakes up with a start, dives but then comes back for a look, hate to think what he weighs, ginormous!

I paddled up to Ricketts from Green Point for a coffee this morning and at times it was real pea-soup fog, totally disorienting, the slight head wind was the only thing I had to get my direction. Bit scary when a boat comes out of the fog but everyone was going super slow....except the jet skis

He's a big one alright, he was feeding on something fishy and flicking his scraps up in the air for the seagulls to fight over - very cool. The fog cleared for us for the home leg but rolled in even thicker as we were finishing our coffees - weird...
