I'm going down to Margaret River tomorrow and desperate for a sup sunday morning. The forecast for 7:30 am is 2.3m and SE winds at 5 knots. I'm thinking Huzzas might be the go. My only concern is school holidays and those pests that come with it...schoolies! Anyone got any other suggestions for a good sup wave without the big school holiday crowds?
I've literally just gotten back from Gracetown, and I pretty much surfed in the bay all week. Every single day, even when it was puny at Huzzas, there were a few people in the water. As soon as the swell got to the point that the shortboarders could have a half decent ride, it got seriously packed. There were maybe around 20-25 people at Huzzas alone on the day of most significant swell. North Point had even more. It was getting really dangerous sometimes with the bigger sets causing accidents with the bigger boarders having a few collisions. Just a warning of caution, as it gets excessively packed on good swells at the moment. But if you're after the scraps, you'll be fine!
I know a couple of secret spots past Margarets that would be great, but a bit hard to access with a sup Try southside next to mainbreak that could be good. Maybe even way inside boat ramps near gnarabup if there is a bit of swell.
