Hey Everyone!

This evening, the surf was yuck, there was tonnes of chop and the wind wasn't making anything better. So in true Page fashion, Dad and I went out. It didn't take us long to paddle out and as soon as we got out the back Dad caught a really nice wave. He did a wicked bottom turn and came up the face, but when he reached the lip he fell off on to the rail, unfortunately he was on his PSH Gun, where the rails aren't too soft, so right about now, Dad's sitting in the ER at Geelong Hospital, with what seems to be a few broken ribs and a punctured either lung!

Looks like he won't be in the water for a while

But he'll be back as soon as he can.

Cheers

Kristi

Really sorry to hear that Kristi. I hope Phil is not in too much pain. Broken ribs are normally pretty painfull and a punctured lung sounds awful. I hope you can get him an internet conection so he can shoot the Breeze to keep him sane while he's on the mend. Get well soon Phil.

What a bugger.. .. I've been there done that only a few years ago and it's no fun at all.

I wondered why your Dad didn't call me back today.

Have they had to stick a drain tube (intercostal) into his ribs under his arm to help re inflate the lung?

Don't go telling dad any jokes now.. Joke can hurt like hell when you laugh..

You guys should have got the ferry over to where I was today.. Chunchies at Pt Leo was great fun.. Warm, sunny and nice little 2' waves.

Don't mean to hi-jack but in about an hour and a half I got about twenty waves and never fell off once.. Thanks to that big wide arse 10' Mana..

Getting back to your Dad.. What hospital is he in and will he be in for a couple of days?

Thanks Th0m0, TeaTree and DJ.

DJ -

We don't know anything offical about Dad right now. He was taken into Geelong Hospital about 20 minutes after he did it, by the paramedics. Mum's waiting for a call from Dad, and she's hoping it won't be 2am when he rings lol.
And those photos are SO mean lol our waves don't have anything on those ones. Mum thinks that Dad should be out tonight or tomorrow morning.

If he does have a punctured lung and has an intercostal put in he'll be in hospital for maybe two days.

Man that sucks, I broke 18 ribs and tore my kidney in half a couple of years back and it takes a bit to recover from. Big tip is to fall asleep on the broken side so that when you roll over the pain doesnt wake you up....bit odd I know but it means getting some rest. All the best and hope your back in the water soon.

Hey Guys,

Thank you to all the Seabreeze family, the best wishes really mean alot.

I just got home and I am drugged to the eyeballs but this is where I wanted to be.

I have 4-8 weeks of surfing according to those that know. It may have been the drugs but hearing that just simply made me cry!

I dont intend to just sit around so anyone who wants some pics or video taken yell out I want to keep as involved as possible.

Anyone who wants to try out my 9'6 or 12 or the DC 94 please let me know! I want someone to get some enjoyment out of them until I can use them again. These boards were meant ot be ridden not sit in my garage.

The best medicine for me is going to be watch you guys have fun, thats what I live for the smiles.

A huge thank you to Rick Hudson from Ocean Grove who helped me up the boat ramp and made sure I was OK and got Kristi in, Thanks so much for your help.

All I can say was the new fin set I was trying out M5 all round works a treat maybe too well. I remember ripping a super tight bottom turn with a huge amount of speed then climed the face and cutback. The wave shutdown I missed the floater and launched into mid air the big board responded so fast.

It all happened in slow motion for me, i could see what was happening but just couldnt stop it. The wave took the board out from under my feet then I fell 3 - 4 feet vertically onto the rail of the board.

I literally felt the ribs snap in that instant. It totally took the wind out of me and had to just cling to the board for quite a few mins to wash away the stars. On the paddle back to shore I could feel the ribs grinding together the whole way. I appologize for the language at the top of the ramp, but I wasnt having a whole lot of fun at that point.

Oh by the way Blane the construction work on the gun is not to shabby it will take one hell of an impact, you should be proud of your work Laughs.

DJ I am going out to buy an impact vest as soon as I can drive and the helmet sitting in the shed is going to get a work out too!

Now that I know what not to do laughs, I am going to charge twice as hard when the time is right. That gun is such a sweet board.

Thank you all again for the best wishes, Mahalo to everyone.

Phill

PS Catch a few for me and post a pic or 2

Hey DJ,
Dad says that he'll call you soon, but right now hes slightly indisposed. We've been torturing him all morning, coz all he keeps saying is Oh My God it was SUCH a good bottom turn, and were just like Yes Dad we KNOW!!

We'll try not to make him laugh too hard! Lol

Thank-you all for your kind comments and messages
