After a great session on the Naish 10' MANA. THought I'd research the meaning.

I know on SURF'S UP they refer to MANA as the boards energy. And most of the sights I've been to speak of power and Spiritual energy. No wonder the board is so awesome.

Back here in kiwiland & if you were to ask any of the native Maori about what mana means you would probably find it means a person's inner pride & power & what relationship they have with their whanau & how other people perceive them.
Possibly they would find it culturally offensive for the word to be attached to some surfboard marketing campaign. A bit like the french rugby team doing an imitation haka lol

Yes well who couild possibny dispute that "the muppet show" is the ultimate indicator of the meaning of life & the universe & everything

My experience in 40 odd years of being aware of this word and the broad concept/meaning that some words have and context intents leads to a load of thought provocation(wtf). I was very close to rural Maoris from birth thru primary school then with interest thru my hippy years late 70s on after i survived a gold topped visit to Noosa then Tuntable Falls. Another story perhaps?
Some people had Mana that was very palpable and as they got older it became evident to me that there were big lessons to be learnt in how you percieve, carry and project yourself. These people - very old men and woman loved life even with all the **** handed to them by all the fates and could drink me under the table 100 times with their whiskey and be polite mostly.
Te he Mauri ora was the catch cry.
But!!
All human dealings are political with relative levels of outcomes. Some elders with evident Mana had massive shadows behind them involving children so i learnt that mana was really a perception and possibly false.
Have i got some? When i was young.. crawling into waves, sometimes delusional
Standing and paddling gives some pride but reactions to me from percievers is varied. When i paddle my 9'5 mana i try to promote the sport to them with best intentions
