We have one planed for tomorrow (Friday) and also one planed for Sunday..

The forcast is for 25 knots tomorrow and 35 knots on Sunday.. Looks like that calm Autumn weather is gone.

20 to 30kts early tomorrow apparently.

Sunday we should do a Ricketts to Edithvale or something in some real waves. I'd be in that
(if SHQ lend me a board). Would have to go during the NW'er though to maximise water time.

I did Ricketts to Mordy in a westerly with anonymous, got rediculously windy it was almost
impossible to carry the boards up the beach at the end.

What time on Sunday DJ?

I'll let you know Phill.. The forcast keeps changing.. Fingers crossed that we get a good one.

It would be great if you, Krist, Simon and Rich can make it.

Todays DW'er was a bit of a fizzer but still fun.

Northwesterly 15 to 25 knots increasing to 20 to 30 knots around dawn then tending west to northwesterly 25 to 35 knots around midday. Winds becoming westerly 20 to 30 knots in the evening.

What run you thinking DJ?

After today's one sided paddle thanks to a little unexpected easterly in the breeze, my left shoulder thinks your original idea of Rickett's to Edithvale is pretty enticing Brendan. We still plan to meet at Black Rock so we can either launch from there and paddle south, or drive north and finish there.

I'm thinking the 20-30 knots nor west and an early start (8am meet and 9am start).. I think Port Melb to Sandy is great on a nor west wind.

Whatever is decided, due to changing times and formats and related confusion, but countered by a few people indicating they have limited availability on Sunday, Jonathan has requested that a strict deadline be set when his trailer will leave the meeting point with boards loaded for all those coming. So set your alarm and please don't be late as the wind waits for no man (or woman).

Have to agree with Gorgo, 1pm is looking pretty good!!

I'm thinking of aiming for two runs, Hoagie wants to go early so I think an early run from St Kilda to Sandringham or Half Moon Bay.

then....

Maybe a Point Cook to Half Moon Bay aiming to start right when the wind swings more westerly and strengthens.

If we don't stuff around should be able to have an epic Paddle for the Planet

Count me in for tomorrow (Sunday).

Presently, it looks like it's going to go to 20+ knots from about 10:00am, and then be at 25 - 30 sometime between 10 and 1, but I'm happy to do the early and then see what happens later in the day.

Okay so just to add to the confusion, there are actually 4 downwinders in Melbourne tomorrow.

Warwick's RPS / SUP VIC Paddle For The Planet run is meeting at Half Moon Bay at 9am. At this stage, the plan is to go around the corner and downwind from either Black Rock or Rickett's Point to Edithvale as per Bnaccas' suggestion. It should be around 5 or 6km. The exact route will be decided in the morning.

However DJ and Jonathan are going to stick with the tried and true StKilda to Black Rock downwind run - about 14km. Meeting time for that run is 8am sharp at Half Moon Bay to load onto the trailer. Alternately you can head for the usual Langridge St, West StKilda starting point at 9am with your board and arrange a car shuffle later. Either way, the meeting times are strict as there are people with commitments later in the day so we need to get going on time.

The SUP CLUB / Peak Adventures downwinder is as follows: Meeting - 9am at Sandridge Life Saving Club at Beacon Cove, Port Melbourne (free parking from what the Peak Adventure crew have told us). On the water by 9:15am. Paddle - Sandridge to St Kilda Seabaths. Obviously all those super keen paddlers that want to go on are welcome to head off from there. Transport - SUP CLUB have organized a bus to take everyone from St Kilda Seabaths back to Sandridge to pick up cars while minding boards at St Kilda Seabaths. Make sure you have: leg rope and life jacket. If you don't have either a leg rope or life jacket these can be borrowed for a gold coin donation (to go to Earthcare St Kilda).

Jonathan is also looking at doing an epic downwind run in the afternoon, but be advised, that one is not for the faint of heart or the inexperienced.

Looking at the wind forecast for later in the day it seems to have swung back to NNW at about 1pm at 25 to 30 so all the hassle of heading to the other side of the bay isn't worth it. I'd be keen to do a second run after our early one and it would work really well to do the Ricketts or even Black Rock to Edithvale at about 12.

See the early shift guys at 8 at Black Rock YC

Geez Ock, had you not left it this late, you would have been welcome to the spare Naish 14 at RPS!

Never mind, handball the youngster your 14 and you use the 12'6".

At this stage, PT and I are probably doing the alternate DW and doing a HMB or Sandy to Mordy.

See whoever fronts in the morning. [HMB at 9am for me]

Oh, and let's all do it for the cause.

After the DW, you'll find me at "No-Mates" for a kite...

Luke said I could borrow their 14' Glide but I was stupid enough to think I could pick it up in the morning.

Anyone know what time the Cafe opens down at Sandy?

p.s. Might be a bit too North for the City of Kingston DWer? See in the morning I guess.
