Check out this great new vid from Bill Boyum.

He's gets nice and close to the down-winders and gives you a front seat view of the action.

Her name is Andrea ..

thanks for posting - great vid and some nice sounds.

2 things though

1. what size board is she on - i know she is small (but strong) but i can not stop thinking that it looks like a boat! At one point she was overtaken by another fella who had an even bigger board.......so are they 17' or bigger?

2. why do lots of them not wear leg-ropes? Drag? I have seen a few othes with coiled legropes which would partially solve that problem.

I'm guessing she's on an F16.. maybe a new F17.. The other board with the boat shaped front end looks like an F18.

As far as leggies go.. I'm sure they often use them but sometimes in a close group like that you just look out for each other.. and besides.. they had a boat running alongside filming.. .. also.. I think these guys rarely fall..

The guy with the bumbag and red hat is wearing one.. also looks like Phill is (blue shorts).

thanks DJ - I wondered if that was the world famous Iron Phill Downwinder on there. Great conditions - it has got me almost thinking that DWing could be fun.

Andrea is on a 17'4'' Bullet. Andrea is a WEAPON of a female SUP paddler & has smashed a lot of male egos (I love that s###) + Andrea is a all round nice chick with a big heart her husband Eve is also a nice bloke.
That day we wear filming for my LOW PRESSURE PRODUCTION Magic Paddle video but the wind was not strong. Video will be released in late September the low budget I mean no budget B grade movie

see ya in da ocean

Andrea Moller is as close to a Waterwoman that you can get. She is a very accomplished surfer also and tows Jaws with her female partner Maria Souza. She's also a very good OC paddler and is now dominating womens SUP paddling and like DW said kicking butt of many men. No embarassment in getting 'chicked' by her..........

Yep she is a weapon!! Watched her cruise past me many times on that run during the week before molokai but always smiling as she goes by.
I remember that day over there, the wind just didn't happen but the run was still a heap of FUN!!

Love the video - great reminder of the Maliko run even if its not epic conditions.
Anyone else pick up the turtle next to Andrea at at 2:43? They just float to the surface and bob around, gotta be switched on looking for them so if they come up in front of you you can avoid the pretty quick.
I love the carnage on the wave from about 3:15. I wonder if it was one of the reefs or just heading in at Kanaha?
Andrea is without doubt the best downwind female SUP paddler in the world at the moment, and a really cool chick too, and it's great to be able to watch her paddle, rather than fly past and disappear into the distance in about 30 sec!
DW is right, the wind was super light (for Maliko) that day, probably the worst day for wind when I was over there, and it still looks like so much fun, so you can all imagine just how good a good day there really is.
