Well Was in Caloundra for the last few days so decided to borrow a board and have a go.

Got a 9"8 Starboard for this first attempt, and all in all it went pretty well. Spent a few hours on the flat water of Golden Beach getting my SUP legs sorted and working everything out before venturing into the waves of the Caloundra bar. I am stoked I actually managed to catch a few waves, but have to admit I spent a lot of time in the water once I hit the surf.

Now just need to get one of my own.

Great stuff...

Just wondering..How heavy are you..cos..smaller is not always better..Especialy if you're a heavy guy.

I'd love to try one of those 9'8"s myself one day.

I'm about 85kg.

The 9'8" was just what was there at the time, I have been leaning toward purchasing a 10'6" Naish as it would seem that might be a good option.

My requirements are that it surfs well, the surf is where my interest for this is. That I can use a sail with it if I wish, and it is not a complete slug on flat water. So in a nutshell I guess i want everything...

Coming from a background of surfing and wavesailing I didn't really have any trouble with balance on flatish water, or any issues with boat wake and rolling swell. Did spend a lot more time in the water once I got into broken waves, but I expected that for my first few hours, if not days or weeks on any board.

aus301..At 85kg the 10'6" Naish would be a good choice..imo...Give one a demo and you will see what I mean.

I love mine..It's more surfboard looking than most other boards.

I am usually at the Alley quite a bit, grew up there and went to school at PBC.

Will make sure I introduce myself when I am next down.
