Muchly anticipating my first "real" stand up paddle boarding adventure tomorrow morning! Heading down to Currumbin Creek and hiring a board. Was there last weekend kayaking with two SUP'ers. Jumped on my mates 10"6 NSP, wonky to start off with but my goodness it was fun! Think I may have been bitten by the bug! Can't wait n very excited. Just had to share it with everyone :D
Most will remember our first time, nothing wrong with big and wide your first time out, a great ride all the same. I am sure your smile will last for weeks. Welcome to the addiction. Cheers Scott
All the best for tomorrow. The weather won't be crash hot, but who cares. I often paddle the creek for exercise, lovely spot. Wait till you actually catch some small waves.
I will always have in my memory the thoughts when i first saw people on SUPs. How easy does that look! I almost didn't bother to try it as it appeared too simple to do...
The minute I paddled into a river mouth I was thinking how wrong I was...
Sorry for the late reply. Was good fun...Not to sure on the board I hired though. Terribly curved and extremely hard to balance on. Water was quite calm that weekend. Spent two hours on the water. Could certainly tell by the way my arms were limp the next day!
Hi Jamie I'm pretty sure you had a 10ft mana and a 11 ft board. Most people are sore the next day as you would have used some new mucles. You should have found the yellow mana more stable than the other board. The more you do it the easier it will get. Just make sure if you hire again you get some different boards so you will see the difference between all the boards. Cheer angie
