Hello Jayne
Welcome to the neighbourhood. I live in Hervey Bay and have been SUPing here since Nov 06. We have only ever seen one other local on a SUP here...a guy called Chris who paddles a Naish. On the weekends, we have a habit of paddling up or down the foreshore, taking our pick of who serves the best eggs benedict, and then paddling home again. Not a bad lifestyle we think.
I've taken my board out to Toogoom and a nice little waterway to explore eh? If you work the tide, you get a free ride more or less.
The Burrum River at Burrum Heads is spectacular too, lots of sand bars and a vast expanse of river to cross. Can be really hard work to get back across the river if the wind even comes up a little, but we all know thats doing the abs a whole lot of good so who cares??
We also love Noosa and have had our best waves at Laguna between the two rock groins.
Did you take your boards to Bali? Any probs getting them through check-in etc?
