Hi All
Thought i would add my review of the big Naish, but a bit of background first.
I have been surfing for 40+ years, the last 20 almost exclusively on longboards. Up until 2 years ago I surfed almost daily (around the Wollongong area).
I now live in a small beachside community north of Townsville. The weather is great up here but the surf is CRAP.
I bought my Naish about 3 months ago from SUP Aust. (great service guys ) after much internet research. The mast track was a plus as my research on some o/s sites recommended fitting tracks to their custom boards.
When I first pulled the board out of the box I thought WOW THIS THING IS BIG
First impressions when paddling for the first time was how high off the water I was,but it is very stable.
First few mushy waves were an experience. Couldn't turn it. Then I moved back a couple of steps (to over the fin) and if came alive. Have since played around with fin placement and found for my style of backfoot surfing a rear placement is best. Noseriding is a breeze with all that flotation (remember these wave are wind blown mush). How good is it to be able to pull a stall from near the nose just by dipping the paddle.
I like this board and it's given me my sanity back. Thanks again to the crew at SUP Aust

Hi jethro2,

Ive just purchased the naish and love the way it cruises along the flat water. Ill try out what you said when i finally get in some surf.

Do you use the standard paddle you got with the board or have you up graded, I dont mind the ali paddle but i have nothing else to compare it with, aso did yours come with a mast track plug?

cheers

Hi Champ

I just use the standard Naish paddle. It works OK for me and I found it hard to justify (mainly to the wife) the extra cost of a carbon paddle. Maybe later on.
No, my board didn't come with the mast track plug. I don't miss it.
I did buy a cover for it from the guys in Noosa (where I got he board from, SUPS Aust). Good quality and makes it easier to carry the board. Good luck with your new board

It cost $165 + $20 p&h. I only got the 5mm. Good enough for normal use. They are really good quality, made by Surf Aids in Byron Bay

I had a nice little shorey at Balgal this morning, until the tide smothered it. Havn't been to any of the beaches around Ayr. Do they get waves often?
Cheers'

wind generated mush like balgal but gets a bit more size, can get overhead if the southeasters blow hard enough. sandbar break 200m offshore.
