Just took delivery of my Naish 14 foot glide from Richard at Strapper. Had a very fun paddle at Cosy Corner Torquay. Picking off little rolling runners well before they were breaking. Getting 150m++ rides.
She wants to go straight with that big Slalom Style Windsurf Fin. Next surf paddle will be with a raked fin. As the waves started to peel, it was easy to point it down the line and cruise. You just have to keep the weight over the inside rail, otherwise the hard rails try and catch and tries to force it to broach.
All in all, a very impressive paddling machine.
Conditions were about 10-15 knots SSW, maybe South. 3 feet of swell at Point Danger (6 feet+ on the face on the sets), and the usual 1/2 foot inside, but smooth.
How do you guys find this stuff? Anyways, Deb's from Hawaii and has been surfing/paddling her whole life. She's super fast. The naish 14 goes pretty good, could be even better with less nose rocker. Now that we've discovered this site we'll post our videos here also. Here's one done a year ago. Its outrigger not SUP, but its a screaming downwind Maliko on Maui. Enjoy.
Aloha!!!!! LOL Pco - Yup when conditions are nuking or gnarly i tend to lose control and revert back to a primal state..... we'll try post a vid when it's blowing 35+, the wind wave can get hip high. ciao =lll= [}:)]
thanks DJ.... hope we get one down to Cattail, were the lake narrows and acts like a funnel!!!! so funnnnnnn, but need a nuking north wind day. ciao =lll=
Hi Gang, FYI i was reading on one of the topics that someone switched the fin on a Naish Glide soooooo today I put a 8.5" SUP surf fin on and downwind agogo.... so loose and relaxed... almost thought i was at Kanaha LOL..... i luv that board!!!!!!! ciao 4 now
Mike! yup we're working on that board as i post..... I'm hoping it'll feel as loose as my 9'2" surfing SUP that Matt Kazuma shaped for me but will paddle fast..... anywayz you can contact us at [email protected] when you come to AZ even during winter it's totally fun. ciao deb
Nice vid -looked like a lot of fun - love the Naish 14 too - it may not be the fastest board in those conditions - but I love the versatility it offers and you can still have a lot of fun in conditions like that too.
