Whats the width of the Naish 8'4"?
Anyone now the litres?

I've been trying to find it on the net but for some reason can't find any specs.

Cheers

I agree 100% with the review.... this board rips... I'm looking forward to the same shape in 8"0 -8"2, as I'm 70kgs and reckon a smaller verion would be even better.

Good review SURFSUP! I dig that you removed the pad - I prefer wax as well.

It is 27 1/2" wide. I think it is 110 liters, but not certain. I know it floats my 96 kgs.

I had one go on this board in small waves and it felt unreal!! I weigh 82kgs so I reckon you could go a lot less volume for sure Gareth.

Hey Surfsup

I have the 8'10" and want to replace the grip as I am fully over slipping off the white one. How did you get yours off and did you end up with a deck that was smooth enough to take a new grip?

Nice review thanks for posting.

I painstakingly pulled up the pad while releasing it from the deck with a razor blade. It took forever. I was left with a thin layer of the pad on the board in spots and tried acetone and other solvents to get it off and down to the shiny bamboo finish, but it didn't do the trick. Then I got impatient and wanted to paddle it so I slapped some wax on it and got to SUP surfing. Taking the pad all the way off is a project I will reserve for later. Probably when/if I get another board and stop paddling this one so much. If you are looking to put another pad on it you have your work cut out for you. It seems to me that Naish might have rough sanded this board where the pad goes and then applied the pad so the adhesive would stick really well, but I am not positive about that. Whatever they did made it stick really well. Good luck if you decide to remove the pad and try another. Let me know if you get it down to the finish and share any tips that get you there with the rest of us.

Thanks Surfsup

Sounds like a mission, but I need a project to get me through those long winter nights

I'll get it started and let you know how I go.

How come I was not able to find any info on the 8'4" on the Naish web site? is it a model only available to some countries?

The 8'4" was a Mid season release, and will fit into the 2011 range, I guess they just got too excited about how good this board is and couldn't wait to get it out there!

Beware, these pads do not use 3M adhesive backed sheet to hold the pad down. They are glued. Probably spray glued and its rock hard glue.

I major mess of rock hard glue.

I waxed my pad. It works and it saves your resale value.

We have had success with rough sanding the Nasih grips (gives better hold) or applying antiskid spray to them.

Kristi was really happy with the antiskid on Jacko's board at Noosa, the only thing to be aware of is the antiskid will take bark off if you SUP in a bikini I am told prolly wont worry me

I have to say the Naish grip isnt the worst by far or the only grip I have sanded to roughen it up.

I have also done it to the PSH grips, the one supplied by Surftech for the Laird and the ones supplied on the Imperials.

Over time they all loose traction and soak up water if you surf them hard its just wear and tear.

Recently they all got the antiskid treatment, because it works.

Hey its not totally proven, but before I use my Naish Mana I rub beach sand over the white slippery Naish deck grip. I find some how I have slipped of a lot less. ( A bit like waxing the board but with sand) Ummmmmm Try It!!

At the beach my kids usually jump and play on my sup grinding sand into every inch of the pad and wax. It makes for a pretty good grip...
