A certain national airline from NZ managed to snap my Naish Makani.

Helpfully in a position which still retains a decent lenght for grommet use.

Does anyone have any helpful hints for removing the clamp off it so I can re-use on the remaining section of shaft?

You can either just cut it bellow the clamp.. or undo the screws and pry the plastic clamp away from the shaft.. It's do'able and heating it slightly first should help..

Cheers fellas. Buggered if I know how they busted it. Looks like it was point loaded about 1/3 down from the clamp.

Paddles break very easily on mechanical conveyor belts, they just get perpendicular to the belt at some point and are easily broken when the rest of the parcels/luggage push on them while they are stuck on a tunnel entry or some kind of door.

Happens a lot with the post office.

Like DJ says, just heat to melt the glue.
