Thank you for allowing Kristi to try out your Javelin today.
Just to give people and idea of how much faster it was, Kristi has a 12'6 x 25 Dean Snow Airwave custom and loves it and by most standards it pretty fast. She can normally blow away a 14ft glide for the first 15 - 20m and keep up with a 14ft Glide in a 400m sprint give or take 5-10m.
In a 100m sprint the Javelin was 5-6 seconds faster than her previous best time In a 200m sprint the Javelin was 10 -12 seconds faster than her previous best time In a 400m sprint the Javelin was 20 seconds faster than her previous best time
Whilst these are flat out sprints I would love to know what that would equate to over a 3 or 5km race?
I believe it would be in the 1 - 2 mins advantage.
Pretty sweet board
I think DJ has some video of Kristi on the Javelin.
Here ya go Plill.. Kristi was looking great today.. and what a beautiful day.
BTW.. I did get a wave out on the main beach later but I couldn't stay long.. I left before I got my hair wet..
How could you fall off a big 10' Mana in those perfect conditions..
It was a bit cold and foggy when I left home and once the sun started to shine through the cloud I could see all these hot air balloons hovering over the city.
Those little orange dots are balloons.
It was a great sight as I got to Ocean Grove and I watched some great sets come through.
Looking south the beach seemed to go on forever.. the weather was perfect.
Phill, Kristi and I headed over to the inlet (Barwon Heads river) behind the main beach so she could test paddle the new Naish Javelin.
It was so glassy and the Jav looked fantastic waiting at the water's edge.
Kristi doing a little skipping warm-up.
Kristi knew within two strokes that the Jav is a very fast board.. As Phill and I watch he said "yeah.. It's quicker alright" just by watching.
Here's a few pictures of Kristi looking pretty good on the Javelin.
This is the fin that I'm now running on the Jav.. I think it's about a 9" fin and made by a local guy.. He makes beautiful fins.
Kristi obviously had the somewhat tippy Javelin dialed in pretty quick to attempt a back foot turn. At her weight, she's obviously walked a long way back to get the bow out of the water like that. Especially brave with the water temp on the chilly side and no wet suit.

Looks like she was taking the pi*s if you ask me - doing wheel stands for a laugh around the finish line. Great control and lovely conditions.

Yeah, taking the pi*s is right. I've been on the Javelin a couple of times and I know how tippy and how narrow it is, especially where Kristi is standing. And given how cold the water is in Vic right now... just thinking about it is making them shrink.
Good point Phill, both her regular boards 25" wide max - the Javelin must seem like a real barge in comparison. Damn kids with vastly superior balance.
