I know i've asked this befor but what are everyone's thoughts on this particular board for me.

Starboard SUP 10'0” x 34” Whopper model
Durable Soft Board construction. so no fibreglass dings or repairs.
Super Slick SUP comes with alloy basic paddle.
Thruster Design Center Fin Soft PU 6" Side Fin Soft Pu 3"
Length 10'0" (304.8 cm) Width 34" (86.4 cm)
Thickness 4.1" (10.4 cm) Tail Width 18.4" (46.7 cm)
Volume (168 L)
Suit Beginner or first timer board as being stable and loads of floatation. Built in handles for carrying.
I have Two available and Both have been used only twice.
"
It will be my first board and i am 102 kilos about 5'11" tall.
I can get one for the right price second hand and am thinking it may be a good second board after to keep after i get a bit better. But is it too small for to start on?

I really like the Nash Mana but second hand over hear is a little harder.

Recently I was looking at both boards you mentioned - 10ft Naish Mana & Starboard Whopper.
Got some good advice from the Breezers.

The Starboard at 34" wide will offer great stability especially thru the break.

However, the Mana has a volume of 210 litres (Whopper is 168 litres)which sealed it for me. At 122kg I need the volume. Also I was advised the Mana is better for surfing.

When I was looking I tried the whopper just cause it was there on the water and found it had no glide on flat water, super stable, and similar to Scotty, I went the naish but nalu as it's just that much big in volume which goes well with me cause i am too

Depending on what you want, I would demo both and make the decision and how your gonna use them too

IMO the boards you need to be looking for are either a second hand 11.6 Naish Nalu or an 11.6 NSP. They are fairly similar and are way better boards for both paddling and surfing than the Mana and the Whopper at your weight. You will struggle finding a s/h nalu but you may pick up an nsp pretty cheap (even new).

Hi Jbshack

We sell both Naish and Starboard at Stand Up Paddle Sports in Osborne Park.
I dont have a 11'6" Nalu in at the moment but i do have its smaller brother the 10'6" and i have plenty of whoppers in stock. Also we have boards available for hire on the river if you want to try before you buy so you can check the stability yourself.
