Hello my aussie friends, I am Ivan, from Brazil.
I´m just getting into sup, today was my third paddling in flat waters and I am just in love. The board reachs a nice speed and is an excelent work out... actually I´m still hiting the rails a lot with the paddle, but I hope to learn before I f* my board. I´m also having a hard time for turning the direction, and as soon as I get better, I´ll go to the waves.

I would like to thank all of you for the nice tips (mainly you DJ) which helped me a lot in choosing my equipment. Unfortunately here in Brazil doesn´t have choices of ready boards, there is only hand shappeds sups. Mine is a brand new 10'x28"x4", and as soon as I learn how to post pics, I´ll send some from my board and from the waves.

Good paddling to all

Ivan

Hi ivanash,

Sounds like you got hooked on the sport just like the rest of us. It's great fun. Good luck and enjoy. You can put electrical tape around the edge of your paddle to stop it from marking your board.

Congrats Ivan...I'm sure Brazil will have production SUP's soon..Here in Oz they have only been available for about 6-12 months.

Looking forward to pics of your board..and don't worry too much about the turning and changing direction thing..it will get easier.

Just a couple of back strokes on one side and then a couple of forward strokes on the other side is the best way to get around.

What type of paddle do you use?

Hi DJ

I use one which shaft is aluminum and the ends are fiber glass... I guess is not the best of the world...
It was made by the shaper who shaped my board... and after that tip you gave about the size of the paddle ( a picture of the paddle beginning in the height of the eyes) I realized my paddle is a bit short, should be maybe 3" more.
Anyway, I´ll improve my equipment with time, but the most important is that I´m stoked with my new toy.
Thanks for all the support.
Ivan
By the way, how do we post pics in this forum ? I tried to copy and paste but did not work...
