Hi

Need some advice. Im starting out in SUP and looking for my first board. I want an all rounder board. I expect about 70% of my use will be on flat water (either on rivers on the ocean on flat days), and 30% catching waves.

I've borrowed a few boards from from friends in the past few months and loved SUP, but my experience is limited. I don't want a boat, but want something that is still stable.

I was leaning towards the Naish Nalu 10'6" based on all the positive reviews, however would prefer not to spend $1600 for my first SUP. I came across the Bic Sport Ace-Tech 10'6" for $1099....which is more in my price range for my first SUP. However there are limited reviews on the Bic.

Any advice or thoughts on which to go? Is the Bic a good board that will last a while or will I be looking to upgrade quickly once my skills improve?

Im 6' and weight 83kg. Im only 27 so I want a board that will challange me over time as my skills impriove and also one that will last at least a couple of years.

Thanks

My advice, spend the extra bucks and get the Naish. It's a board that you will never outgrow & if you ever did actually decide to sell it, you'd prob make the majority of your cash back.

Hey Rogerroger,
I started with a bic 10'6 then had a go on friends Naish Nalu 10'6 and was very jealous of it. IMO they are different boards for surfing but for flatwater i think it would be a bit of a waste to buy a Naish unless your after a nice light board to carry.
I surf more now and have recently bought a nalu 10'6 off Sam for Balmoral surf and absolutly love it.
Massive weight difference between the 2 as well as price tho

pre-loved 10'6 Nalu if $$ are an issue, keep an eye out on the Seabreeze Buy & Sell (there is also an 11'4 Nalu in NSW on the B&S that would be worth a look)

Like the Zeusman says.....the Naish much better resell value
and probably a more refined and well tested design

Yes...But IMO the Bic is a better shape, value for money and you will want to keep it as a good all round board.
