mate, Im 100kgs and just got a airborne 88 x 31 and just love it. Very agile and flotation is great for a bigger unit as I am.Rate them highly

My mate went from the same airborn to a custom deep 8.0 x 28 x 4, he loves it and hasn't looked back...he's About the same weight as you!

Yeah mate it's his everyday board now, I'm a couple of kilos heavier (74) and I ride a deep too but 7.10 x 27.5 x 4....it's my everyday board too, can be a handful in messy chop but probs not much difference to your airborn..I'm pretty sure his is same literage as airborn 96 litres from memory...

Yea I think mine is around that literage. Defiantly want to stay 8 foot or below. But 28 inch wide and a thinker board sounds good. Think mine is around 3.3 inch deep. Wud gaining thicker make much of a difference to the manorability?

Not if the rails are refined and pulled down like deep does... You'll notice the performance coming down in width... I dropped down 2" in width from my last board and there is a big difference in manoeuvrability....at our weight tho we could pretty much ride as small as we want

Hey mate. I'll give u my 2 cents worth. I'm 70kgs and just got my new Sunova Acid 7'10" 26.5 and 80ltrs. Only had 3 surfs on it. First surf I thought id bitten off more than I could chew. Did a lot of falling off. The second surf I felt about 70% better and then even better by the 3rd.
If u want manoeuvre ability this board RIPS. Ive gone from a 7'6" Gulliver Vbox 102 Ltr which was a good board but it struggled in sucker waves and I always had trouble on my backhand. On the Acid I can do short board like reos on my backhand. I'm absolutely loving this board!
As far as paddling it is a little slower and harder to balance on but I feel I'm adjusting pretty quickly considering ive dropped 22 ltrs.
Another thing its better at is paddling through the waves, it really punches through a lot easier and late take offs are much easier.
I think its good to go a bit smaller than what u think u can ride because if it feels too comfortable straight away your going to wanting to change your board sooner.

Definitely have a look at the Starboard Pros at 29 wide. I'm your weight and there's no need to go anymore than 29 wide. A board length of 8 to 8'5 will have you ripping in ankle high surf to big bombs.
