Check out these No SUP Bozo's stickers that are showing up in the US... Let's hope we don't see them down under.

I've gotta admit it's pretty funny and there's no doubt that there are plenty of bozo's out there..

this all happened in the late eighties in noosa with AMA,(anti mal association )stickers given out by the leading surfshop in noosa, needless to say longboarders boycotted the shop, and they just faded away as the longboard scene got bigger, dont react to the wankers, they wont win,

I visited Noosa in the 70's and 80's and it was lovely. I passed through there a couple of years ago and couldn't wait to get out of the place. True the surf can be outstanding but it is now an overpopulated, traffic clogged resort and shopping mall. All the tourists with their stickers can keep it.

Since I have been SUP surfing I have not had anything but friendly curiosity and general good manners. Yesterday a guy apologised for getting in my way (I don't know why I just surfed around him. It was not an issue.)

BTW Torquay and most of the west coast was infested by Euro backpackers on hire soft boards. Surf school trailers at every break. It looked kind of funny but they were having a nice time and it's all income for the tourist industry.

That's a classic sticker, i'd like to get one to put on my SUP.

I revert to my theory here. A goose is a goose no matter what they ride.

BUT, a goose on a SUP just like a 10' Mal or so is a goose that can affect so many more people than a goose on a 6'2.

Best way to combat it is to make it your own personal campaign to change peoples perception. Not paddling to the top of the peak and taking every set wave and riding through the pack is a good start.

If you're not from a surfing background and havent grown up in a 'line-up' and understand the etiquette involved perhaps it would be a great idea to talk to someone who has and listen, it will make life easier for all of us.

I clearly remember getting a good clip 'round the ear from my old man for dropping in when I was a grommet. Some crew are now in the 'line up' but are clearly not in line..... These are the guys that are creating the tension.

had to laugh at the effort they've gone to. my mate would love that sticker - might get the bugger one for chrissie!

being from a non surfing background do my best to pay respect to the line up and also try to find a different break where possible.

if the grumpy old (stubborn) mal riders would have a go at standup they might see the light.

I reckon those stickers are priceless !

If you can't take the piss out of yourself, you're not an Aussie !

I so want one for my car......love 'em.

Amusing to think longboarders (for which I am on ocassion) always groan about the treatment they get from shortboarders but have no issue passing on the bad vibe to others - the irony huh ?

Get a grip, share, and as stated above, don't be greedy.....and if you're a good surfer on whatever board you choose, the cream always rises to the top so you'll be picking the set waves and getting most of what you want regardless.

So, get me a sticker or three PLEASE.

Everyone cops a serve.Bodyboarders,kneeboarders,goatboats,longboards,clubbies,shortboards. Seems like it's our turn. It's only a narrow minded individual that would bag another surfcraft that they have n't ridden

Everyone here is sensitive to the longboard grumblings but let me fill you in. Under normal urban situations all surfers(of whatever craft) hate everyone else on the water who might be catching the waves that they could be getting.
The only reason you hear the longboarders' is because you can, if you sit in the pack with the shortboarder's or the lid's they will be bitching too.
Don't believe the media cliche that we are one big tribe looking after our own.

I love this crap, there is always going to be jelousy. It's the way you go about it that makes the difference. I ride every watercraft I can; Shortboard, Longboard, SUP, Kiteboard, Sailboard, Wakeboards, waterski, just about everything (except Bodyboard). But as long as you are curtious to all water users you will have minimum troubles, and the ones that do give you grief are generally w@nk&rs. the same W@nk&r that parked diagonal in the car park, the same W@nk&r that threw his cigarette butt on the groud, the same w@nk*&r swearing infront of your children and the same w@nk&r that will do a burn out on his way out of the car park on his way to the M5 for his long journey back home.

I find in general you get what you deserve, right attitude and application will get you respect. If your a looser (on what ever you ride) then go move inland and collect stamps.
