For those that have not seen a C4 board close up they have a neat system that holds your paddle to the board.

They have two leash plugs in the center of the deck..and this new nifty heavy duty velcro stuff looped through the plugs.

Some guys even replace the velcro with thin rope loops and slide their paddle through them and carry the whole thing using the paddle handle.

I don't need to carry my Naish board that way because I have a hand hold thingie in the board.

But..I have found that often the wind will catch it while carrying it and I have to try and hold the board still with the other hand and also not drop my paddle.

So...Before sticking my new deck grip on I put two leash plugs in (equal distance from the hand hole) I now use it to attach my paddle.

This means that I have a free hand to steady the board if caught in a wind gust.

I think it's a good idea..and it would be good for those who struggle carrying their board and paddle together..or don't have a hand hole thingie.

btw..these leash plugs only cost a few bucks each and are easy-peasy to put in yourself..or it shouldn't cost much to have it done.

Yeah...Drilling holes in my new board was hard to do..But I'm still glad that I did it...

Actually the guys at Oak surfboards did mine..Because we're old friends..I was buying the plugs and Neil Oak said.."lets do it now it won't take long"..so we did.

What's holding my paddle is the same stuff that C4 use..It's this heavy duty velcro stuff...I got it from the local rock climbing shop..and cut a couple of 5" long bits.

When not in use they roll up and sit in the plug out of the way..or I can remove it from the plug and stick it in my boardies pocket.

What a shame about Pete,I hope the damage on his bike was not as bad as it looked.

I currently ride a MX bike,but I am shopping around for a road bike so I can do some touring as well and the odd track day!

I have been looking at the GSXR 600 so to see Petes go down sent shivers down my spine!

Makes me wonder if the sports 600's will be OK for weekend tours?

Dave you should write a book! I reckon you would write a great travel book like SUPing around OZ mentioning all the hot and not so hot spots to paddle and stay and eat at.

Thanks for the Tip on the SV 650 they are a great sounding bike and for sure would suit what I am after and has been on my short list.

I have done loads of research and finally made up my mind to get a TRX 850.

I am now on the Hunt!

That looks pretty good...Just wondering tho..Don't those boards have a hand hole thingie to carry them with?

Today I did a lot of board carrying and jeeeez it's a pain carrying some boards..Anything to make it easyer is a good thing..IMO..

I like your idea but im not a big fan of having a strap on there all the time when

paddling, i know its a large board but imo i like the strap that you can buy from

stand up paddlesurf it makes carrying the board easy you dont have to drill any

holes in your board and it rolls up and fits into your pocket
