No gun yet will just hafta wait till the rumble from the beach dies down a bit. Actually wind direction onshore for here so you gotta go up the coast or down the coast to find a more sheltered spot.
The whole east coast of the north island getting a big whack of swell. Whangamata looking great for today for keen travellers.

Hey teatree gisborne on east coast of northisland halfway down. Not on main north/south highway but on a more laidback alternative route. Wonderful beaches, wine tasting stuff, a place with largest collection of trees in southern hemisphere. So there are a few excuses for visiting.
But the best reason for you to visit would be it picks up swells from the nrth && south & east and has a huge variety of surf breaks in the surrounding area

The airport spot very popular with wellington surfers. But you would not believe how cold the water is there......seems to have its own special flow of water coming straight from Antarctica.

Am sure that giant swell is out there somewhere but for us landlubbers its just Rain Rain Rain. Think 3 days so far & maybe another couple of days of showers to follow
