These things sound great but could you provide a bit more detail like:

1. Will there be qualified SUP instructors to help out?

2. Do we have to pay anything?

3. Are we liable if we damage the equipment?

4. Are we liable if we damage other peoples equipment?

5. Are you liable if we hurt ourselves?

6. Are we liable if we hurt others in the surf, i.e run over swimmers/surfers?

7. Do you have permission to run the demo's at these beaches? Its not going to be very fun if we are being abused by the locals not to mention how disrespectful it is to rock up with a trailer load of SUPs and flood the local break. Not only will this leave a bad vibe but the local SUP's will be still feeling the fallout long after you have left.

Cricky, just don't go mate! I am sure the people putting the demo day's on have most things covered, however the beach is open space so respect goes around and the SUP people IMO are mature type folk so i don't see any problems!

That's my cent worth!

1. YES
2.NO
3. 4. 5. 6. The 'release' form you sign if you wish to participate will make it clear that you need to be responsible for your own actions. The only person responsible for your actions is yourself. We wil be resposible for ours. If you do not wish to take this responsibility dont participate.

7. In every location we are working with locals/shops or SUP Schools to run the demo in locations that are regularly used for StandUP to minimise the effect on the local surfing community.

LOL whats up with stevibee's comments/questions?

What ever happened to people just taking responsibility for their own actions. I know if i demo a board on the day and hurt myself or anyone else then it's only my fault and my problem.
It's no different from if your out on your own gear and you hurt someone else or yourself, It's your fault.
Demo days like this take time and $ to organise and it's only to help and benefit the sup community.

Bring on the day! I'll be there and I'll be like a kid in a candy store.

Yeah I agree with Angie, these events do cost money and time to organise and no doubt will benefit the local SUP/surf shops by gee-ing up interest and generating business for the locals.

Angie, Jake's C4 Racing paddle he won at the nationals should be arriving at your shop this afternoon or early tomorrow morning.

I had fun today. I paddled all the wide boards from the 11' down to the 9'6 ripper and I threw in the standard 10'6 for good measure. I am 6'2 and 100kg and I haven't been able to find a board I was completely happy with, so I was keen to try all the wide boards. The 11' is too big for what I want and the 9'6 ripper was too challenging for my skill level. In the lake the 10'6 wide AR was my favourite. It paddles well, I am comfortably balanced and one step back sinks the tail to swing it around. The 9'6 wide AR wasn't too far behind. I decided to surf the 10'6 wide AR and I wasn't disappointed, I am thinking seriously about this one. I also surfed the 9'6 wide AR, I had trouble getting into waves with the stiff off shore breeze, and shallow bank, but I caught a couple and this board could be a lot of fun, maybe next year.

Thanks Jason, and thanks Andrew and Bevan for setting up the tour.

No worries SF - hope you and everyone got some waves today! The south coast was smokin today when the westerly hit - Werri was the best I have seen it in years - both ends firing!

The NEWCASTLE leg tomorrow has been postponed and JASON is in Port Maquarie tomorrow. If you want to hook up give him a call - 0409 411 266.
If anyone missed him on the Central Coast or at Newcastle he will catch up on the way down if you give him a call.

New bigger shop? Stocking up on the DC17's are we?

Although the east coast demo tour was postponed in Newcastle we managed to put something together for the novacastrians.

After yesterdays ridiculous temperature/humidity level it was good to have a light SE'r blowing this morning to cool things down.

The location was the new Belmont Bay foreshore area.

Alot of crew turned up as soon as we set up the tent.

Head surf coach Miles (in blue shirt) was giving everyone expert advice and running some of them through our lesson program.

We had a good range of boards from the 14' C4 Vortice down to my personal custom 9'0 C4 Batwing

A local journo was driving pass to take his kids to nippers and stopped in to get some shots and get a story from Miles & I.

With so many boards on offer it was hard to choose which one!

With no tent ropes we had to tie a C4 BK Pro up to keep the tent from blowing over.

A local retailer lent out a new Ron House 10'6 and QuikBlade paddle for display. Very nice! I believe the guy that did the artwork on this board is pictured in a recent longboarding mag at the Mexican Pipe SUP challenge.

The slight crossshore wind made sure it wasn't easy for the first timers.

This paddler was enjoying it so much that she wanted to cross the lake!

This paddler is a regular in our SUP School and drives up from Sydney for lessons. Her progression has been amazing and next time we are hitting the surf. Here she is on a C4 10'0 BK Pro

Here is a close up the artwork on the Ron House 10'6.

How I wish I was young again! It is amazing how these young kids can pick up their balance and coordination so quick!

We had a large range of boards from C4 (9'0 Batwing Custom, 9'6 Swallow, 10'0 BK Pro, 10'6, 11'6 & 14'VorticeXP) and Miles brought along some Lairds (11'0 & 11'6)and a Starboard (12'0?). Each time I looked at this weed on the bank I thought of DJ and his trademark 'Crocs'

Some of the C4's. The 9'3 SUB Vector was on a secret mission up the north coast so the owner can get some quality time on it and not get hassled by others stealing it off her to ride!

We also had a large range of paddles. The most popular for the day were the C4 adjustable 'Stendy' paddles.

The time went so quick and it was time to pack up and load up!

The NewcastleSUP mobile loaded to the hilt with SUPs. Note the custom rack I made for the C4 Vortice.

All in all it was a great day and we had an excellent turn out with about 30 people having a go. I managed to get these shots whilst I was in having a rest. Miles gave lessons on the shore and I did water patrol.

Yeah good one Andrew....
Love the industry input but sometimes the competition gets out of control....
I wish AA was coming to Adelaide with a stack of boards but if he aint, he aint.
I am sure not going to ask if he has "check it with the locals" or has insurance if some tool drowns. Hope this don't put off shops or importers having demo days?
Lake Newcasle looks like a winters day in Melbourne.....

Here we go, here we go, here we go...

Just remember that there is blanket ban on any business posts in the kitesurfing forum because businesses/brands were unable to play fairly together.

Some businesses got sent to their rooms, and as for the others, we told their mums what they were doing. (wait till dad comes home...)

In here, if all businesses can let other businesses have their fair say and promote their demo's, then all business can have a fair say and promote demos and stuff.

However, if a businesses is going to hijack another businesses topics with the sole purpose of promoting their own business, then either rules will come, or suspensions will occur .. maybe the forum will become a 100% commercial free zone, and I'm sure none of the businesses wants that...?

Play nice, or you'll all lose your toys.

Wow, if I was joe-blow supa I'll be grateful to see what went down at other demos no matter what the thread which raises the question just how many industry people actually use this forum and whom do they post under? I am sorry and I guess I should of created a new thread

If people think I set out to hijack the demo or this thread they are severely in the wrong and mis-informed!

Our demo day had been planned for weeks and was supposed to run at Dixon Park which is 100m from Merewether! When I saw the Oxbow/PSH post I did the professional thing and relocated to Belmont which is a good 20km away. It wasn't until the 11th hour that Bevan contacted me to see if they could run with us because the earlier post about having support in Newcastle was false and misleading and they had actually no retail support in the area. I told him I'd be glad to help out if they gave earlier notice but as we had our own thing planned and like Angie said these things cost money and time to organise and it was too late. I told him to go to Merewether as from previous experience there is high traffic flow and he would go well. But in the end it was Bevan's call to cancel Newcastle and it is unfair to make out that we did not want them here.

There is always two sides to the story!

I have spoken to both Bevan and Andrew Allen today and obviously they have gotten things mixed up with Andrew being down south and Bevan in NZ? there was an obvious breakdown in communication.
Anyway, Andrew is going to post in agreement that they got things wrong and NewcastleSUP had nothing to do with the postponement of the Newcastle leg and anyway who am I to say who are who cannot to come to our great city! come on guys!

Yes, daddy came home and we all got a good hiding!

Thanks Simon for clearing things up - sounds like there was one big misunderstanding all-round, myself included!

After some tears we all agreed to keep industry issues off the web and deal with them off the Breeze - Happy families!
