Ran into a few breezers today at PRK. Took my Lumix DMC-FT1 out for the first time in the water. I soon learnt to dip the camera in the water to stop the dreaded drips appearing in the pics. Good to meet LSD, Neil, Log Man and Rodriguez.

Small but nice

LSD & Neil

LSD stylin

This mal rider joined us and was hooting and hollering

LSD - inspirational, lots of advice and help

My son Kayne, 6'2 & 105kg. Fourth time on a SUP, first time on his Naish Mana 10'er

Kayne found the Mana to be more stable and manouvarable than the PSH 11'er he rode first. The nose lift certainly assists in preventing the board from pearling. I've gotta admit I much prefer the Mana as well given my limited SUP experience.

BTW he tried out his new Werner Niro paddle today and was absolutely stoked. It's quite deceptive as it looks narrower than the Methane but has approx same surface area.

Great pic's mate!! It will be interesting to see how that new camera stands the test of time and saltwater? Sorry dont mean to put a downer on it,its just Ive had a few(waterproof cameras) and there always seems to be issues with them.

I hear you. Gotta admit not happy with the seals I've seen on various "waterproof cameras". Interestingly Panasonic makes a fully waterproof housing for this camera which costa as much as the camera

I suppose for 600 bucks you can't expect too much these days.

Anyway I'll keep plugging away till it craps itself.

Glad you liked the piccies.

If you get it from Harvey Norman you can pay extra for more years warranty.
I bought a crap LCD for the bedroom with a built in DVD player and if it craps itself within 5 years they will replace it with the same unit (if available) or a unit to the same value, which as technology goes over time will be a much better unit. I think JB offers this as well.

Got mine from Teds. They offer the same warranty at half the price of Harvey's

Great Photos pete. Looks like PRK is in fine form again with those 6cm bumps rolling all the way to shore.

Why are the conditions on weekdays so much better than the weekends?

LOL we actually bypassed PRK to start with but got greeted by a surf school infesting the choice spot.

Man if you think the guys who run these schools freak when they see a hard short/longboard you should see them when they see SUP's, freakin priceless .

Suppose you gotta learn somewhere.

Here's a question; do surf schools have exclusive rights to an area when they post their flags? Not that I would want to be anywhere near them anyway. Just a thought.

Here's another pic. Swell dropped as the tide rose. Didn't quite get the focus right. Unknown SUPer, I think it was one of Dean's mate's.

surf schools have got no rights in the water, their licence with the local council,if they have one is only a right to operate on a part of the beach, but if they dont hog the good bank stay away ,its safer.if they create problems find out who they are and talk to the local council.
