My Point exactly Lacey,

One of the guys we sup with is out and out a champion longboarder, one of the best shapers in the country he is totally off the hook and he still rides a 10'6.

Its all about being realistic.

Phill

More great advice from OG, gee your talking about me OG, 9.1 to 9.6 longboard and ride a 10.6 sup at 95 kegs. mac lol

Thanks, I just am not into the mana, mac.

Trust the advice given here BP, I did and never looked back. For my first board I chose the 11.4 Naish for an all rounder, mainly fw paddling and the odd surf.but it didn't take long before fw was out of the game and just wanted to surf. Once again I seeked advice from this forum and chose a PSH 10.6 and it goes off. The only regret I have, if I had the funds I would love to have the Naish 11.4 lovely board.Having said that the wife whoops boss understands my addiction with longboards x 6 in the garage and I can't sell the sup quiver story. Yet anyway

I bought a Naish 9'6" four weeks ago as my first board . I have paddled it almost every day but unfortunatly a lot has been in the river as at the moment WA stands for Westerly Always. The surfs I have had have been glassy but wobbly conditions and it has been pretty hard work. I have been getting plenty of waves but am falling off a lot while waiting. Kinda wished I had gone bigger but will stick it out as you can tell this is going to be a good wave board. I was next to two guys on Star 11 footers on Sat and they looked like they were standing in the carpark compared to my wobbling. I am 75k's

I ride 9.1 to 9.6 longboards and for years now. I jumped on a 9.6 Naish back then 100 kegs and I sunk it in the creek, too hard to start on and enjoy so I went the soft option and really enjoyed it
Did Mark Webber jump straight into a F1 or did he do his time in carts

10'6 PSHWAA was my fav board by a country mile!

Since I have had the Gun and I got the fins set up right, ok well a little too right the 10'6WAA is second.

The gun even though it broke my ribs is the ducks guts. With m5s it truns way better than then 10'6WAA, shreads through white water on the paddle out and you can seriously blow up on it in almost any conditions.

I will get some pics when I get back on it but as Rick would tell you a 12ft will go verticle.

Its my mistress.

The DC 9'4 is just so loose and full of juice for big days mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

BP The answer to your prayers!

The Hard Case
The Surfboard Hard Case is the best protection for a surfboard. The Hard Case is made of a hard plastic mold and is like a suitcase for your surfboard. These cases offer a solid surround for your boards making them practically ding proof. Travel in the knowledge that your boards will emerge safely at the other end.

Ultimate Board Protection
Great for Long Term Storage
Fly safe in the knowledge that the baggage handler is now powerless!
An expensive and heavy option

BP, at 85kgs the 9'6" Naish will be fine. You will no doubt struggle at first but some flat water paddling will help prior to hitting the surf. It may not be the ideal first board but if you're not into the Mana you have no choice.

Buy it, ride it and report back here with how you go. If 2nd hand boards are so scarce you should have no problem selling it. Fingers crossed you won't need to.

Just my 2cents worth.
I had 3 sessions on an 11'6 Naish then bougth a 9'6 Quad naish to learn on my 1st 2nd and 3 sessions I fell off a lot but after 6 sessions had it pretty much wired. After 6 months could stand comfy even in rought onshore conditions. surfed it from 1/2 a foot to 7 foot no worries. just sold it with really good resale, 3/4 of new purchase price. Totally stocked in the board. I am 85kgs and have surfed short boards for 30years and now sup for 1 year.(still surfing my short board as well)Hope this helps Rod

I don't believe the board has changed except the arrangement with the deck grip.

The website says in relation to the 9'6" Hokua "..... it can be ridden as a quad or thruster FCS fin setup". It also still has the 9'3" listed.
