Has anyone taken there boards over to Rotto and had a paddle. I think it would be great to have a poke around at various different spots/bays on the island, does the ferry let you take larger boards over?

I've been a couple of times (my own boat). Did SUP chicken reef once, just hung wide or inside, didn't hassle the boogie boarders for waves, pretty much just picked up the scraps, got wasted on the reef on the inside (still need to replace the fins).

I wouldn't bother with strickos, but then I stopped trying to SB at strickos a while ago too. The place is a circus.

As you said though, plenty of bays and little reefs you can have to yourself if you don't mind compromising a little on wave quality. But that's just me, that's why I SUP.

ok cheers guys. Just thought it would be good for a few little less crowded waves during the week and even just a general paddle around exploring, etc. Dont have access to a boat so just seeing if anyone had taken there boards over on the ferry
